Don’t Wait Until the Storm Hits: Why a Gold Roof Service Plan Matters

Don’t Wait Until the Storm Hits: Why a Gold Roof Service Plan Matters

Recent stormy weather has provided another reminder of how quickly conditions can change in Scotland.

Strong winds and heavy rain can expose weaknesses in a roof that may have gone unnoticed during calmer weather.

A slipped slate, loose ridge tile or damaged section of flashing can suddenly become an urgent problem.

And when a storm affects thousands of properties at the same time, one thing happens very quickly:

Roofers get busy.

Storm damage doesn’t make an appointment

Roof problems rarely occur at a convenient time.

A roof may appear perfectly fine until strong winds lift a tile or driving rain finds its way through a previously unnoticed weakness.

Typical storm-related problems include:

  • Missing or slipped tiles and slates
  • Damaged ridge tiles
  • Loose flashing
  • Gutter and roofline damage
  • Debris striking the roof
  • Sudden water ingress
  • Leaks into lofts and rooms below

When this happens, homeowners naturally want somebody to attend as quickly as possible.

After a storm, demand can rise quickly

A major storm does not damage one property at a time.

Roofing companies can receive many calls within hours from homeowners reporting leaks, missing slates or tiles, and other damage.

That inevitably creates pressure on emergency repair teams.

If you wait until the storm has already damaged your roof before finding a roofing company, you may be joining a long list of other homeowners trying to do exactly the same thing.

Gold Plan customers are already covered

A Taylor Roofs Gold Service Plan means you already have a relationship with the company looking after your roof.

The Gold Plan includes:

  • Two maintenance visits each year
  • Gutter cleaning
  • Tile/slate replacement**
  • Roofing survey
  • Emergency Roof Repair Cover

Most importantly during periods of severe weather, Gold Plan customers receive priority for emergency repairs.

You are not starting from scratch looking for a roofer when everybody else is doing the same.

** Tile/Slate Replacement – subject to roof survey and limited to 12 tiles/slates per year. Minimum 12-month contract applies.

Prevention is the first line of defence

Emergency cover is important, but the real value of a service plan starts before a storm arrives.

Regular inspections give us the opportunity to spot developing problems such as:

  • Loose or damaged tiles
  • Deteriorating flashing
  • Blocked gutters
  • Roofline problems
  • Areas requiring preventative maintenance

Fixing a small problem during routine maintenance is preferable to discovering it when rain starts coming through the ceiling.

But even a well-maintained roof can suffer storm damage

Maintenance reduces risk. It cannot control the weather.

Exceptionally strong winds can damage roofs that have been well maintained, particularly if flying debris is involved.

That is why the Gold Plan combines preventative maintenance with emergency cover.

You have regular checks to reduce the chances of problems developing — and additional support if severe weather still causes damage.

Peace of mind before the forecast turns bad

There is a big difference between preparing for bad weather and reacting to it.

Without a plan, an emergency can mean:

Find a roofer → make contact → explain the problem → wait for availability.

With a Gold Service Plan, Taylor Roofs already knows you and your roof.

When storm damage occurs, you have an established route for getting help.

The best time to prepare is before the next storm

Nobody knows exactly when the next spell of severe Scottish weather will arrive.

What we do know is that wind, rain, frost and storms will continue to put roofs under pressure.

Waiting until water is coming through the ceiling is not the ideal time to start thinking about roof maintenance or emergency cover.

A Gold Service Plan allows you to prepare in advance.

Put your roof on a plan

If Taylor Roofs has already surveyed, repaired or replaced your roof, ask us whether your property is suitable for one of our Service Plans.

If we have not inspected the roof recently, we can carry out an initial survey and identify anything that needs attention before ongoing maintenance begins.
