Training Academy
Taylor Roofs have developed our own in-house roofing academy with complex training rigs ensuring all of our roofing team can learn a mix of traditional and modern roofing techniques and practices. We are continually driving to bridge the gap with the ongoing skills shortage in the construction industry as we continue to grow and give our customers the best possible quality of workmanship.
With the success of our roofing academy, we have also begun integrating our solar academy (through our sister company Taylor Solar) with a view to formalising this to offer into the wider communities early next year. We will have schools and groups that will be able to use the academy as well as school leavers and people looking for a career change, or just existing roofers looking to up-skill.
Learn a Trade for Life
We offer many local people the chance to learn a trade, and we make sure we are always bringing through fantastic apprentices. We have 3 newly qualified tradesmen this year helping close the skills gap the industry is facing and started 6 new apprentices in the last year.
One of our apprentices was awarded BMI Icopal Flat Roofing Apprentice Winner of the Year 2024.
We now directly employ 35+ people from the local communities we work in, in a host of different roles from management to labourer, a mix of on the tools and office staff to complement our business.
We have been quite vocal about supporting women in construction and have videos and podcasts showcasing this. We feel this benefits the wider community as it shows we are a very inclusive company and that we are trying to break down barriers for women in a heavily male-dominated industry.
We create success pathways for our team to allow them to progress and grow. Some of the opportunities provided to our team have been to progress into Surveying Roles, Management Roles, Office Roles and more.
